Who can claim?A home carer is where one of a married couple cares for a dependent person, typically a child or an elderly/disabled adult.
How much can be claimed?To claim the full tax allowance, the home carer’s income must not exceed €5,080 in the year. 2009 - 2010: Maximum Home Carers Tax Credit of €900. 2010 - 2012: Maximum Tax Credit Reduced to €810 Even if both you and your spouse earn over €5,080, there are other refunds you may be due, so make sure to talk to one of our tax team.
